United we must stand to voice our strongest protest to this vicious regime and to demand the immediate release of all political prisoners in Iran. Humanity has no border.

In 2010, Campaign to Free Political Prisoner in Iran (CFPPI) has declared 20th of June as the International Day in Support of Political Prisoners in Iran. As a response to this call, in 2011 and 2012 numerous demonstrations and events where held in tens of cities around the world.

In the last 34 years and since the Islamic regime seized power in Iran, tens of thousands of men, women, boys and girls as young as 12 and as old as 77 have been arrested, tortured and executed for expressing their dissent. Systematic arrests, lengthy prison sentences, rape, physical and psychological torture of political prisoners is a regular occurrence in Iran. The regime has actively persecuted members of opposition parties, human rights activists, journalists, artists, bloggers, woman’s rights advocates, lawyers, union and worker activists, homosexuals, Christians, Jews and Baha’is. Prisons in Iran are overflowing with countless political prisoners who have been arbitrarily arrested and held for many years. These prisoners were held without having an access to legal representation or even medical care. Their only “crime” is practising their freedom of expression.

In his latest report in February 2013 on the situation of human rights in Iran, Ahmad Shahid, the United Nations Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran detailed the physical and psychological torture of prisoners by the Islamic regime of Iran.

The advancement of the technology has brought the world together, and the people of different origins and cultures are much closer than ever before now. The news travels faster than ever before and governments across the world have much tougher time to conceal their crimes, wrongdoings and violation of human rights. This applies equally to the regime in Iran and its efforts to keep secrete the notorious prisons where thousands of political prisoners, who are subjected to the most malicious torture every day, are being held.

I would like to appeal for your support. We need your support for those men and women, boys and girls who are currently being held in solitary confinement and are waiting for their daily dose of torture, and their death sentence to be carried out. These prisoners never had media attention or an opportunity to tell their stories. Help us to tell their stories and to be their voices.

Join us on the 20 June 2013, the International Day in Support of Political prisoners in Iran. Wherever you are, you can be the voice of political prisoners. United we must stand to voice our strongest protest to this vicious regime and to demand the immediate release of all political prisoners in Iran. Humanity has no border.
